The largest religion in the Immortal City is Mer Shunnan, the followers of the god
Armadad Bog. Many of these have joined the religion
out of desire for preference from the Emperor and other influencial members of the ruling class
and indeed the priests of the religion openly use this as a tool in their missionary work.
The next largest religion is that of
Natch Ur which was historically the dominant religion of
the Empire. Maybe 35% of the population are Mer Shunnans and 15% follow Natch Ur.
The third largest religious group are the banned and once actively persecuted
Mycretians who are generally liked by the common populace
and comprise maybe 10% of the population. Other gods with major temples in the city are
Shang Ta, God of the Sky,
Nephtlys, Goddess of Wealth,
Tama Hama, Goddess of Desire,
Seker, God of Light,
Thoth, God of Knowledge, and
Ugtargnt, Goddess of Disease.
The city laws provide protection for all legal temples and those on their way to worship.
In return the priests of the temples are
expected
to remain apolitical and refrain from stirring up religious hatred.
