Thoth
God of Knowledge and Learning
Thoth is God of Knowledge and Learning and his
church has temple and shrines throughout the Wilderlands.
His church is Neutral in outlook but stresses the value of knowledge
and learning over wealth and power. His followers, normally
referred to as Gnosophim wear simple robes and have a frugal outlook towards
possessions. Many become monks and devote their lives to research in the
libraries attached to Thoth's temples.
Unlike many other religions the priests of Thoths may be
wizards and sorcerers as well as clerics. Thoth's doctrine supports the idea
of magic as 'good' knowledge as opposed to the heretical ideas that stemmed from the
Markrabs.
His
priests are active in seeking out and suppressing such dangerous
knowledge and ideas which may have lingered in the world since the time of the War of Magicks.
The center of his worship is
Tula, the City of Wizards, but he has important temples in
Viridistan and
Quitak.
