Seker

God of Light

Seker is the Lawful Good God of Light. His worshippers, who call themselves Sekerites, are known as both seekers of knowledge and foes of evil and he appears to have a particular appeal to women. He is depicted as a strong, virile man holding a lance or halberd which is said to disintegrate undead. He is also shown as shooting rays of sunlight from his hands. His clerics who are mainly female display a hawk-headed mummy or a sun-tipped mace as a holy symbol and cast spells from the Sun, Magic, Knowledge, and Protection domains.

Like Thoth his temples normally contain large libraries of scrolls and books of philosophy, magic and religion for those who want to seek out truth. His priestesses, however, as well as seeking for knowledge actively seek out evil to destroy it. In Viridistan the Sekerite temple walks a fine line with the goverment as they are often suspected of harbouring or otherwise aiding Mycretians. Many Mycretians grateful for the Sekerites help believe that although Seker clearly does not exist the Sekerites must be inspired in some way by Mycr.

A mystery regarding Seker is his relationship with the dead god Pelor. Many of the ancient temples of Pelor still stand, devoid of religious adornment, but still quiet and holy places which are obviously maintained and cared for. Nobody knows why this is so and who are the mysterious caretakers but the priestesses of Seker are the obvious candidates in popular imagination.
