Mycr is a god apart whose worship is centred in the Holy Cities of the Desert Lands south
of Viridistan. A being of impressive power who can manifest himself
as a huge whirlwind or pillar of fire and has been known to cause at least one vast flood,
he nevertheless insists his followers are pacifists who use violence only in strict
self-defence. It is said he first appeared in the Uttermost War and protected his followers
against the worst ravages of the Markrabs.
No-one, however, knows where he dwells for according to other religions (including the
Temple of Athena) he has no presence on the Celestial Plane, and the souls of Mycretians
do not go there on death. Although there is much to admire in the Mycretian religion clerics
of other good or neutral religions find it exasperating as Mycr does not cooperate with
other gods. Indeed the official Mycretian teaching is that there are no other gods but Mycr
and that all other seemingly divine manifestations are caused by demons to deceive the
populace. Magic is likewise seen as powered by demons or the Markrabs whether divine or arcane.
The priests of Mycr, however, do have their own unique way of 'channeling' the power of Mycr.
The Mycretians are particularly loathed by evil religions especially those popular in
Viridistan. The current Green Emperor started his reign with a purge of all Mycretians in
the city and a strike against the Holy Cities that led to the deaths of at least two
Mycretian prophets. Viridian troops are still stationed in and around the Holy Cities but
according to travellers to Viridistan Mycretians are gradually increasing in number once again
although officially outlawed. This is antagonising evil temples as Mycretians have a habit
of rescuing any being held for live sacrifice. Mycretians incidentally have a reputation as
the finest herbalists in the Wilderlands.
