The Reets were according to their legends the dominant people of the ancient
Pelorean Empire. They suffered grievously
in the Great Darkness but were sufficently
resilient to drive out the last of the
Giants and
spread throughout the ancient borders of the old empire north of the
Blue Sea once the Sun returned.
Reets have become known for their pioneering spirit often carving out and defending settlements
beyond the borders of their first kingdom,
Reetland. Unlike
Southerners they had great resistance to the cold and their
settlements reached to the southern vales of the
White Mountains and the icy shores of the
Grey Sea.
Reets now provide the base stock of all three northern kingdoms although in
Sankhar they became much mingled with tribes from the East and are
now considered a separate people, the
Sankhats.
Since they first built their kingdoms in the North West the Reets have had to fight off many
threats from the East which threatened to overwhelm them, firstly incursions from the nomads
of the Eastern Horde and then repeated invasions from the
Gnoll Horde.
