The Grey Sea is a cold sea of the northern latitudes which is enclosed on three sides by
land. The northern coasts of
Cambria and Reetland border the Grey
Sea and fishing is a major part of the way of life for the villages which are situated
on those coasts. Unfortunately the only other sailors which regularly sail the Grey Sea are the
Reavers who prey upon other vessels and sometimes the ports
from which they sail. The towns and villages of the Reavers are nestled on the east coast of the sea.
Natural hazards of the Grey Sea include storm surges which flood low lying areas on the coast,
mists which make navigation difficult and iceburgs which can be a problem even in the summer months.
To the north it is said the Grey Sea connects to the
Great Ocean and certainly the Reavers have found a way out of the Grey Sea to sail in those
waters. In the winter months it is said the exit is closed as the sea freezes over in the north. On several
occasions within recent history the weather in the north has been so cold that the whole of the Grey Sea
has frozen over.
Besides fish the other bounty of the Grey Sea is amber which washes up on the beaches of the Sea in both
its yellow and grey forms.
