Derei

Derei is a Pel Lord and one of the most influential people in the Pel Dominion. He exercises his influence through the the Society of Derei, an organisation which he himself has built up over the past 35 years. He is a startlingly handsome man with long wavy black hair and an elaborate braided beard. At 5' 9" he is above average height for a Pel and also has a somewhat more robust physique. Thus even though he has lost fingers on his left hand, his appearance enhances his social power. In addition Derei's deep amber eyes and melodious voice give him a charm renowned among the women of Arpel.

A warrior at heart, Derei is never seen without his filigreed hand-axe and gilded flail. He is also an able archer but prefers the sting of a good melee. Derei generally wears light form fitting clothing. The square green knot which serves as the emblem of the Society of Derei is prominent on his helmet and cloak.

Although his rise in influence over his lifetime has been spectacular and he now controls much of Arpel's mercantile and criminal society he has become somewhat more cautious of late, having realised that his activities have started to vex all the Lords of the Dominions and not just Arthrazoc, the Lord of Pel.
