The founding of Koronande is shrouded in myths and legends but must have taken place many thousand
of years ago. The Arch Demon Zananku corrupted the
Mumakani it is said and as their God-King led a great army spearheaded by huge and ferocious war elephants to conquer the peaceful
Kirani tribes. Forced to fight for their homes, however, the
Kirani quickly adapted to warfare and in a great alliance with the
Elves expelled the Mumakani from their lands. The seven Kirani
tribes who had come together to create their army realised they were stronger together and Koronande was born.
After a brief period of experimentation with other forms of government they settled on a republic as best
suiting their needs.
Modern day Koronande really began a little over two thousand years ago with the gift from the Elves of
Taaliraan of a great enclave at the mouth of the River Koros. There the
Kirani built the city of
Korlan which in time became the capital of the country and led to a major increase
in trade between Koronande and other nations. The Kirani also built a great navy with the help of Elven boatbuilders
and today they vie with
Tanturak for supremacy in the southern seas.
While much of modern Koronande politics may seem to centre round Korlan and its enclave the fact that many
of the Korlan senators depend on the votes from jungle villages for their seats means that even in the remotest
corners of the country the republic has increased the quality of life for its citizens.
