Korlan

Korlan is a small city, sited at the mouth of the great Korlos river, that is also the chief port and capital of Koronande. The city was founded 2375 years on a gift of land from the Elven kingdom of Taaliraan and replaced the old inland capital of Kor. The population is officially a little over 5,000 although this figure does not include the many merchants and seafarers who throng the city or for that matter the majority of the dockyard and shipyard workers who live in the surrounding villages. An efficient watch, elegant architecture (mainly in blue granite) and functional sewage system make it one of the most pleasant cities on the western coast of Sudland.

The law abiding nature of the city means that it is attractive to otherwise often persecuted minorities and there are small cmmunities of halflings and gnomes as well as more exotic races settled here. The bulk of the population is , however, human or Elven with maybe 60% of the population human, 20% Half-elven and 10% Elven.

As the city also houses the nation's naval dockyards it is a key strategic target for its enemies. Its walls, however, are stout, made of granite and 30' tall with defensive towers up to 60' in height.
