Sykmet is a large village on the shores
of the Lake of the Temple Deeps. Its main
activities are logging and fishing. Allied with
Zothay in the war against the
Skandiks it managed to beat off an attack from
the Redrock Orcs and has remained independent ever since.
Unlike Shodan Sykmet has a large Altanian population (nearly
50%). This may well have contributed to their success against the Orcs as did the presence
of a retired general from
Quitak.
The village now has a pact for mutual defence with
Shodan which includes running a joint ranger service (based mainly
in Sykmet).
The rangers frequently skirmish with the orcs from
Horaja although the Skandiks themselves
show little interest in raids inland.
