Wren has been approached by an Elven noble from the North who would like to settle in Iredar. He sends his representatives
to Guilin to discuss the matter where they pick up rumours of the
Forgotten Keep and immediately express an interest. Mistletov and Raguso are asked to accompany the two Elves, Elwen and Ciren, to explore the site. There are rumours of trappers disappearing in the area so the
party approach the tower with caution.
It turns out that tower has indeed been occupied by some evil fey, not to mention an Assassin Vine having taken root there. The
fey who include a quickling, a grimstalker and a sith fight to the death and disdain negotiations. The party prove too strong, however, and the tower is taken. A search reveals some small elven art objects confirming the Keep's ancient elven origin. The Lord Fenrel and Lady Gilriel duly move into the tower with their retainers with a view to restoring it to its former glory.
Many weeks later Wren decides to take a break from his administrative duties and go exploring himself with Sin, Mistletov and
Raguso. They decide to travel to Candlemere Island where many Will o' the Wisp have been seen in recent weeks. They have not gone
far up the path to the central tower when they encounter a large Shambling Mound which surprises them by emerging from the undergrowth and gives the party a tough battle. Reaching the tower many of the party experience a feeling of dread as if their
activities are under scrutiny form a being immensely powerful but distant. Finding that the tower's upper storeys are completely
ruined they descend some steps into a basement complex.
Many evil creatures guard the basement and the party have to defeat Will o' the Wisps, Shadows an agressive animated statue and
finally two Gibbering Mouthers before they clear the complex. They discover a magical seal which bars the way to lower levels
and sensibly don't try to open it! All inscriptions around the tower including the runes on the seal are copied down and
taken back to Guilin for the sages to study. The conclusion is that the tower was built by followers of Yog-Suthoth who were
later attacked by priests of Pharasma. The Pharasmins made the seal to imprison whatever evils
lurk in the lower levels.
