Jiah has its origins in a small half-elven trading station that predated the
Gherant Coast kingdom. Little effort was made to further develop the settlement, however, until
Boren was founded and became a large city which took an interest in its smaller neighbour.
The town's main claim to fame is as the home of the
College of Advocates, an organisation of lawyers and judges who
have an international reputation.
It is not a coincidence that this well-ordered town also has the largest temple to
Abadar in the region. Many of the famous advocates who live in this town are known
to follow Abadar. Given the wealth that the College of Advocates brings to the town and the fact that it also has a thriving
fishing industry it is no surprise that the taverns and eating houses of Jiah have a wide reputation for the excellence of their
fish menus.
Jiah is strongly aligned with Boren rather than
Westcrown and in the event of the former seeking independence would also seek a break
with the latter. This is well known in the diplomatic circles of all the cities of the Gherant coast.
