In -1104 a number of half elves of
Taaliraan, having become dissatisfied with their rulers sailed south and
founded the city of Westcrown on the Gherant Coast. The new city state proved a magnet for trade and founded
further colonies at Coren (-1036), Khari (-999) and Boren (-964). In -963 the colonies were incorporated into
the Kingdom of Gherant.
The Kingdom reached it heyday about 500 years ago and has been in steady decline ever since. Most ascribe the
decline to the undermining of the government by criminal elements in Westcrown. In -226 the city of Khari declared
its independence from Gherant and in -172 Coren followed.
Many expected Boren to follow soon after and it has been teetering on the brink ever since with the government
in Westcrown trying to stave off the inevitable by devolving more and more powers to the Grand Council of Boren.
Westcrown meanwhile has become a haven of crime and corruption covered by a thin veneer of respectability.
