The Isles of the Slain are two small islands off the northern coast of the
Isle of the Blest. On the smaller island, called Holy
Island, there is a temple to
Enfilos and a small religious community of priests.
The island was once a centre for pilgrammage for followers
of Enfilos but is now largely ignored. The priests are therefore almost wholly supported
by the fishing village on the larger island, the Isle of the Lake. This is so called
because its central feature is a lake set in the cone of an extinct volcano. Strangers landing
on the isle are frequently kidnapped and handed over to the priests for sacrifice.
What has largely been forgotten by the current inhabitants of the islands is that the
Holy island was once sacred
Amfilos. It was one of the first sites attacked by the
cult of Enfilos but they never discovered a secret underground temple to Amfilos that was
constructed during the War of Domination and pre-dates even the temple in the
Lake of the Gods. The ruins of this temple can now only be
reached through a tunnel running from the bottom of an ancient well in the north-west
of the island and are further protected by a maze which is currently filled with giant rats and giant
poisonous snakes . Many ancient records of the followers of Amfilos lie in this temple but once
past the maze anyone seeking them would be confronted by the temple's undead guardians.
