Halafic is an old trading centre situated at the junction of the road north to
Quitak and the navigable RiverAngor. In addition historically it
has been a market for goods from
Valera to the west and
Anatal and
Onhir to the east as well as a trading centre for the exotic
fur of the jungle-cats that can be found in the surrounding dense forests.
In recent years, however, the town has entered a downward spiral with unrest between
factions spilling over into riots and forcing outside traders to look for
other markets. Indeed the elves of Anatal and Onhir report that they are no longer welcome
in the town and a malaise of spirit seems to have overtaken the population.
In its heyday the town owned many trading posts along the river where
Altanian tribesmen would came with furs to barter for
goods but these seem to be falling into disuse. The towns leader Faltis has tried to rally
his people to regain the spirit of better times but seems to be losing his influence
among its citizens.
There may well have been an settlement here from ancient times as there are ruins on the
other siide of the river that some say date back to the
Dragon Empire or the
Empire of Kelnore.
