Valera is a prosperous fishing village at the mouth of the
RiverAngor. Its seamen are highly respected as they understand how to pass safely through the
notorious
Straight of Clashing Rocks and many ships heading north stop off here to take on a
pilot. The village is sited on an important trading route as the River Angor is navigable for
many miles inland as is its tributary the River Laer. Light merchant ships from the Antillian
Peninsula are therefore frequently seen in its harbour.
Despite is importance and prosperity the village has no formal council. In times of trouble
or when it is necessary to resolve disputes the villagers mostly turn to Malash, priest of
the goddess
Brigit, who has a temple in the centre of the village.
