Sursa Gales is a village on the
Cleft Road some thirty miles south-west of
Wortess. It was originally an elven settlement of some antiquity
but currently halflings form about half the population with elves, half-elves, humans and
gnomes as minorities. For several generations now it has been the custom to have a halfling
mayor although all races are represented on the village council. Halflings also make up
much of the merchant class of the village and their business acumen has made the village
a prosperous place. Many pilgrims and other travellers prefer to buy goods here rather than in
Wortess since the halfling traders are generally courteous and cheerful unlike their
counterparts on the coast.
In the centre of the village is a peculiar tower that appears to have no doors or windows.
None can say what its purpose might have been only that it as been here since the earliest
records of the village.
