As Tessa Fairwind promised, the Pirate Council confirm the Island of Empty Eyes as the official base
of Captain Grok and the party return there in the Swallow to complete their deal with Bikendi Otongu and consolidate their hold on the
island. Otongu greets them at the island's ruined Fort and confirms they have to (re)steal
the magical jewel, the Immortal Dreamstone, from the ruined Cyclops settlement of
Sumitha in return for his treasure. Before proceeding
to the settlement the party have a long discussion about the ethics of stealing the stone and the likely collateral damage to the Cyclops community.
Dru flies his Silver Raven over the settlement to get the lay of the land but the party wait to nightfall to suit Aya's preferences for operating in the dark. Led by Arreng and Aya the party sneak into Sumitha disabling a net trap on the way. As the party enter the
settlement Gurr receives a telepathic message saying 'Help me! I am trapped in the well!'. Gurr, somewhat recklessly, dives straight into the
well but his boldness pays off when he meets a large beautiful female Marid, named Vailea. She explains she has been trapped in the well for thousands of years. Originally caught by Cyclops sorcerors and forced to grant them one wish a year, although the Cyclops no longer have the power to summon her she is still trapped by their ancient magic. Granted a wish by Vailea, Gurr uses the magic to release her and in return she explains much
about Sumitha and also agrees to help the party against the Cyclops.
Guided by the advice of Vailea, Aya and Arreng sneak through the settlement until they come to the Oracle's Hall, a domed room fully
80' high. There they climb steps until they face a carved glowing portal in the shape of an eye, the entrance to the Eye of Serenity.
The ancient Cyclops seers used an alchemical salve to temporarily blind themselves in order to enter the portal but Aya magically blinds both herself and Arreng and then removes the spell when they step through. The Immortal Dreamstone has been restored to its ancient resting place atop a silver pedestal so Aya acts quickly to snatch it and escape with Arreng before the undead Cyclop guardians can defend it. The party then have another ethical debate about handing powerful magical jewels to (potentially) evil sorcerors and cast Augury which at least lets them know that the consequences are probably neutral(ish).
Bikendi Otongu takes the jewel and disappears to other dimensions leaving the party with a map to his treasure. In the morning it would appear that their presence on the island has been detected as a party of five Cyclops come thundering towards the fort. The Cyclops are softened
up by Fireballs and Call Lightning before the fighters finish them off. Another ethical debate now takes place and
the party decide that Gurr will challenge the enormous Cyclops chief, Ishtoreth, to single combat with the penalty that the Cyclops should
all leave the island if Gurr wins. The party and the Cyclops turn up to the agreed venue with equal numbers and the combat begins. Despite
the fact that the Gurr is receiving covert magical help from Aya and Urugu he finds Ishtoreth a formidable opponent and the outcome of the contest appears to be in doubt. Suddenly one of Ishtoreth's seconds shouts that Gurr is cheating and mass combat between the two groups
breaks out. Again there appears to be some doubt as to the likely result when Vailea the Marid appears and turns the tide (quite literally as she appears to be able to create vicious flows of water at will). Sadly the fight ends with no surviving Cyclops witnesses of the contest.
