Ingwe is the god of panthers and leopards and one of the chief servants of
M'pimpi. In the distant past many thousands of years ago
before even the founding of
Koronande M'pimpi sent Ingwe to protect the tribes that were rebelling against
Zananku. As part of his strategy he founded a safe haven in the forest,
Selimbe. Ever since that day the village and its people have had a special relationship with Ingwe.
It is said that none that have ever sought shelter in Selimbe have ever been given up
to their foes. It is also said that every few hundred years a chieftain of the village arises who gives little regard to Ingwe and influences the villagers to follow his example. Ingwe does not grow angry but he just busies
himself with his many other concerns until the villagers remember their purpose and depose their chieftain.
