Baron Drampinhill came to Quinden five years ago having
purchased the keep and title from the previous occupant, a mage. The former Baron, a much
respected figure in the area had frequently been invited by the
White Overlord to the Nobles' Council in
Damkina. The current Baron was clearly under the impression that
his title automatically gained a seat on that Council but he was rebuffed by the Overlord. In
return the Baron has doubled the tolls and taxes of those using the Bighsdale-Damkina
trade route and used the income to build up his garrison. Furthermore he has not passed on
any of the money due to Damkina.
His troops have also become a little unruly and the Baron has become unpopular with both
villagers and travellers. His actions are restrained, however, by the presence of the
Lady Starlight in the area leading to many
standoffs between the two. Many of the leading villagers have secretly petitioned the Overlord
asking him to intervene but the strength of the Baron's garrison makes this unlikely.
