The Divine Speakers are a group of merchants who specialise in the importing luxury goods into Miredor. Although to the public they are a highly respectable organisation behind the scenes they try to manipulate markets in their favour often in direct conflict with the laws of the land. If caught, however. they will employ highly skilled lawyers to argue their case before frequent sympathetic judges. As there is never the slightest chance of any of their members receiving a prison sentence if found guilty they will simply pay their fines in good grace and resolve not to get caught in future. The generous way their activities are viewed in the courts owes much to the fact that among their patrons are several Lords of the Dominions. In order to join the Speakers members are required to be fluent in all the languages of the Dominions except Mablad. The Dwarves of Blackflame refuse to use their services instead giving preference to their great rivals the Masters of the Golden Eye. The symbol of the Divine Speakers is a broken septagonal silver coin on a coppery background. |
