The Black Dogs are a criminal gang who operate mainly in northern Sudland. They delight in kidnapping, murder and extortion and are know for their brutal methods. Unlike most other gangs they revel in clashes with law enforcement agencies and will often target killing Watch members when they first infiltrate a city. They also do not tolerate other criminal organisations and will seek to weaken or eradicate the local Thieves Guild. The most notable thing about them, however, is that they are just soldiers and executioners for a dark cult Those With The Black Hand, a group of Malgothian magic users. The few gang members who have ever escaped the Black Dogs described how when acting for the cult they are physically enhanced by dark rituals and also that the (temporary) feeling of power is both exhilarating and addictive. Unsurprisingly the Black Dogs have been proscribed in many countries and haven't reared their heads in Miredor for over two hundred years. Gang members receive a brand of a demonic dog on the back of their necks as part of their initiation. |
