Nivakta's Crossing is a small village of traders, hunters, fishers and trappers on the southern border of Brevoy. Its population is under 150 and mostly consists of humans with gnomes the next largest group. The villagers have a reputation for being unfriendly but can be a good source of local gossip once coin has exchanged hands or drink passed through their lips. Being
on the route to the
Stolen Lands means that the general store is well stocked with the mundane items that the fools who want to explore that region might need.
The village is surrounded by a wooden pallisade and is set on the north east bank of the Shrike River. The low bridge that crosses the river has well-defended guard towers on its southern side. The town guard led by Sheriff Loren Kaven has responsibilities for patrolling the road for a day's march to the west. The cost of the four
extra guards needed for this duty is born by the citizens of
Restov. Beside Loren other notable locals are Irven Revanisu, the Mayor, and Kara Ilarenika, the priest of the settlement's only church, dedicated to the goddess of birth, death and fate, Pharasma.
