To many Lindamon is only known as legendary lost Elven kingdom said to have been ruled by powerful wizards that now lies beneath the waves in Usakan Bay.
Although the end of Lindamon is a tragedy and a mystery the realm lasted for many thousand years of relative
peace and none should therefore judge its inhabitants too harshly. The magocracy had its beginnings when a
group of powerful mages in ancient times attempted magical research which offended the Elven Court. The mages
decided to choose exile rather than curtail their research.
Looking for a place to settle they noted the end of the Dragon Empire had created a power vacuum and political
uncertainty in Sudland. They therefore came to the Elven tribes of the western coast and offered them
protection in return for dominance in their society. A referendum was conducted in which the overwhelming majority
of the Elves in the area accepted they would be citizens of a magocracy and Lindamon was founded.
The mages really had no interest in their new subjects but appointed competent
administrators to handle the day to day running of the new country.
They also were scrupulous in keeping their part of the bargain in defending the citizens from external threats be
they evil dragon, rogue efreetis or demons.
In due course the people of Lindamon befriended the humans to the East and Lindamon armies were instrumental in
freeing them from dominance of the Yuan-ti. As with other external wars later in the country's history the mages themselve had no part in them, reserving themselves for any appearance of hostile forces on Lindamon soil.
The nature of their research leaked out, however, when it became known that mages from Lindamon were
instrumental in designing the magic that simultaneously overthrew Malgoth and wreaked destruction on the Elven
Empire.
When Zananku conquered the human tribes to the east therefore a faction of Lindamon Elves facilitated the
formation of the Guild of Elements to avoid a confrontation between Zananku and their mage rulers. It took the best part of a thousand years but eventually Zananku was
ousted with out such a ruinous conflict and the Guild was dissolved.
The destruction of Lindamon in a single day just over 600 years later came out of the blue. Many sort to blame
Zananku without any evidence although it cannot be discounted that he might have sought revenge on the Elves
for their part in his defeat. Eye witnesses reported a blinding flash seen several hundred miles away
followed by the collapse of the land as the sea surged in and by the following day well over half the
land was underwater. Further a large part of the northern territory was flooded and was never reoccupied by the Elves.
The destruction went as far inland as Geshaan which was also flooded and unlike
the land which later became Tanturak never recovered to this day.
Those who don't blame Zananku for the catastrophe tend to blame the Mages themselves. Perex's order can confirm that there was a large release of magical energy which was not consistent with any natural phenomena. The survivng part of
the realm became Taaliraan which has returned to a more conventional means of government.
