The Guild of Elements was a secret organisation of which few have heard. It was formed after
Zananku had conquered the human tribes of western Sudland and many
feared that his next target was the Elven magocracy of
Lindamon. A group of dissident Elves feared that a clash between the power and hubris of their own rulers and the Demon Lord, would wreak unimaginable destruction on the region. They therefore sent North for help. Their call was answered and an elite group of spellcasters came into being who called themselves the Guild of Elements.
The objectives of the Guild were to provide sufficient resistance in the occupied lands that Zananku
would not have a firm base for an invasion of Lindamon and to provide a beacon of hope for the conquered human tribes. The members of the Guild included several powerful smiths whose skill represented a peak of elven technology not reached since the foundering of the Elven Empire in the North. They built secret bases in the occupied lands and
constructed many marvellous artefacts. They also managed to infiltrate the strongholds of Zananku and his
lieutenants to such an extent that they could anticipate his every move.
For over 800 years the Guild played cat and mouse games with Zananku's forces until they saw an opportune moment
to encourage a full scale rebellion of the human tribes. In -7436 a great victory by a combined Elven/Human army
ended Zananku's rule and the Guild sealed their bases and shut away their artefacts. Many members chose that
time to leave Sudland for the Western Isles.
Some claim that the Guild was re-formed during the time of Zananku's incarnation as the all-conquering Azzankarak, Godking of Makan but as Perex's order was little involved in that conflict
he cannot comment. If true it would raise interesting questions as to exactly how it was reformed and who held the
keys to its bases. Since that time, however, knowledge of the Guild has faded and few are even aware that they once existed.
