The Seer is one of the gods who was killed during the War of Magicks. His clerics, however,
managed to preserve his head on the Material Plane which prevented him becoming trapped in the
Underworld. Ever since that time (roughly 6,000 years ago) The Seer has been dependent on
very powerful magicians who have
hidden him from the other gods in return for his services. Although this has meant that he
has had to serve some power-mad and evil individuals he has essentially manipulated them
by telling them the truth but not the whole truth.
The Seer has always been critical of the other gods and the way they behaved.
His point was that the rules of behaviour that the gods only thought applied to the lesser
races were in fact universal and would have consequences for the gods themselves. He also
questioned the very idea of worship. As a result some of the gods
betrayed him to his enemies in the War of Magicks: they certainly didn't come to his aid.
After the War, however, The Seer says that many of the gods reflected on the truth of his
message of whom the most influential were
Odin, Athena, and
Hermes.
