About a thousand years ago Capricia was a small human fishing village. A large dwarven
migration, however, saw several clans settle in the region notably at
Kolda and
Snake Hill and a few dwarves settled at Capricia. Five hundred
years ago an orcish invasion saw
the dwarven population swell with refugees from many outlying setlements. Gamli the Bold, the
then high priest of
Kazadarum, led the resistance to the invasion and to this
day the town looks to the Temple of Kazadarum for leadership. The current priest, Gotarerin,
sees it as his duty to help maintain harmony between the local races and is on good terms with
Diancecht which is the chief market for Capricia's fish.
The population of the town is now 50% dwarven, 30% human, 15% elvish with a smattering of
other races. The chief of the guards is Azu who also organises protection for overland caravans
in the area. The barges to Diancecht are guarded by marines led by an elf called Meenan. The
leader of the humans, who are still mainly fisherfolk, is called Ercu.
