The Osirion province of Thuvia was formed in -6171 after it conquered the nomadic tribes of the
Tekritanin League. In -5560, however, Osirion was
in decline and failed to replace the assassinated governor of the province leaving the cities of the area
to their own devices. For nearly the next two thousand years they existed as independent city states.
In -3575, however, the sage Artokus Kirran discovered the
Sun Orchid Elixir which has shaped the politics and fortunes
of the area ever since. The immediate reaction of Thuvia's neighbours was to seek to obtain the secret of the elixir by force compelling the city states of the area to come to an agreement as to how to share the wealth
generated by the discovery and to jointly defend the territory.
The largest of the Thuvia's cities is Merab which is often thought of as the area's capital although it has not
been designated as such. It is situated on the coast of the Inland Sea which is an important conduit for trade.
Aspenthar, which has the largest army, is watched warily by the other cities in case its scheming prince becomes
over ambitious. Lamasara is a port of pleasures and a magnet for hedonists. The inhabitants of Duwwor, by contrast,
seek to live in harmony with the land and have little interest in outsiders. The smallest of Thuvia's great cities
is Pashow, home to the most famous university for arcanists in the region.
