The Merry Widow is a half-sunken ship off the southern coast of Slitherfish Island. It is famed for being the dwelling place
and 'temple' of a splinter group of the priesthood of Besmara, the Pirate Queen, who are all priestesses who have lost their
husbands to the sea. The cult maintains that the priestesses have all been 'blessed' by this event which was a 'reward'
for the priestesses from Besmara.
The priestesses are known to accept male captives who they sacrifice to Besmara by throwing them bound to the many sharks and devilfish who frequent the lower decks of the Merry Widow. Thus a 'trip to the Merry Widow' is a popular threat uttered by dissatisfied wives to their husbands on Mediogalti Island. The cult is, however, disowned
by the main temple of Besmara on Mediogalti, Besmara's House in
Ilizmagorti.
