Treasure Island

The party take the ship's long boat to land on the island where they find a fishing village that seems to have been deserted for several years. Aya announces she has looted several useful items from the Ocean Breeze including masterwork weapons. In the village they meet Hapu who was not kidnapped by the creatures but had attempted to rescue them only to be foiled by their squid-like jet propulsion through the water.

The party's first challenge is to cross a rather uninviting swamp. A walkway supported by wooden piles once led from the village inland but it appears to have collapsed. Hapu, however, leaps across using the piles as stepping stones and then fixes a rope to help the rest of the party cross safely. On the other side the party can see a luxurious tent and several comely and prettily dressed girls lounging outside. The enthusiasm of the male members of the party dims when the 'girls' turn out to be ghouls. A brief skirmish follows with the party victorious.

Moving on the party find a path down to the island's only sandy beach which also happens to be the home of three giant crabs. Neither the crabs or the party are hungry enough at that moment for a conflict to ensue. Instead the party follow another path which leads to the top of the island's western ridge upon which someone appears to have built a stockade. The structure appears to be empty apart from some animated vines which on closer inspection appear to be part of hungry choker-like creatures. The party also find a spyglass which appears to have been fixed in position to view the base of the nearby cliffs. Looking through the glass the party see several of the squid-like creatures they seek frolicking in the waves.

Approaching the creature's cave the party have a skirmish with some of the creatures and proceed to have similar skirmishes as they search the creature's labyrinthine lair. At one point the party are trapped in a cave by an iron portcullis but are strong enough to bend the bars to escape. Eventually, having found Sandara Quinn's tricorn hat on the way in the party conclude that if she and Barefoot Samms are alive they are likely being held down a passage that is filled with rushing water.

Advancing down the passage the party comes to a cave where the murky water is constantly churning and filled with the remants of the grindylow creatures' various meals. Hanging from the ceiling are two bodies who the party assume are their crewmates. At the other side of the cavern is a huge matriarch grindylow and an even more bloated offspring. As the party enter the matriarch attempts to cut the fronds supporting the two prsoners but the party are two swift and attack the monstrous grindylows. the water is so murky, however, that they have failed to notice two lacedons (aquatic ghouls) lurking in its depths. A fierce fight follows with the party victorious.

Sandara Quinn and Barefoot Samms are hugely grateful for their rescue. They confess the whole crew of the Ocean Breeze are pirates with the original crew (who will be held for ransome) held on the pirates' own ship, the Black Dog, from which they are now separated. Barefoot Samms says that Mr Pugg and Master Scrow are plotting to kill the party and will probably do so when they return to the ship. This will save them paying the party and letting them have a share of the booty from the voyage. The party decide to camp for the night and make plans in the morning. Both Sandara and Barefoot Samms have many entertaining stories about The Shackles and the surrounding lands. They have decided to name the island they are on Bonewrack Island but have no idea where it lies in the region although it is probably on its fringes.

The next day the party decide to investigate the wreck they spotted in shallow water off the west coast of the island. Hapu and Gurr as the strongest swimmers in the party are 'volunteered' to investigate the wreck. Hapu has acquired a magic harpoon from the encounter with the grindylows but has difficulty using it when they encounter a giant electric eel. Gurr is shocked. Eventually Hapu has more success beating it to death the old fashioned way. Gurr and Hapu recover several items from the wreck but many are rusted and worthless and pickings are slim.

The party move on to the 'Giant Crab Beach' where the occupants are aggressively territorial but no match for the party. Before going back to the ship having filled up the fresh water barrel the party discuss their tactics with the rescued pirates. It agreed that the party members will start a mutiny if they are unfairly picked on. The party camp for the night but despite taking reasonable precautions Tiramba is bitten by one of the island's Ghoul Fever carrying mosquitos. Happily her immune system shrugs off the disease and the party don't have to kill her to prevent her turning into a Ghoul.
