The Church of the Black Sun is the state religion of
Tanturak. Originally a cult associated with the main religion of the long-forgotten northern empire of which Tanturak was a colony, the Church of the Black Sun came to prominence when that Empire
fell over three thousand years ago.
The religion emphasises the pitiless nature of the sun and encourages an equally pitiless approach to Tanturak's
enemies, which just happen to include all the surrounding nations (which at one time or another
Tanturak has been at war with). Not only does the religion glorify militarism but it also encourages its adherents
to think of all other races on the continent of Sudland as inferior. The religion is not particularly popular amongst the ordinary citizens of Tanturak but is well supported by its elite and has a magnificnet cathedral
in the heart of Sarul the nations capital.
The building houses many trophies taken by the
Tanturak military in their campaigns.
The priests of the Black Sun frequently include shameless military propaganda in their sermons. The Church also
has its own independent military arm which the more fervent of its believers may join.
