Chaal Bloodaxe, born in 1360, is the eldest of the three remarkable
daughters of the Orc High-Chieftain Krug Bloodaxe and Alwyn, daughter of
Sagga of the Black Horse Tribe. Since Krug did not have any sons Chaal is also
his heir although she knows this will be challenged when the time comes. A factor
in her favour, however, is that she will have the support of her two younger
sisters who complement her skills and outlook very well and are powerful
individuals in their own right.
Chaal is the most Orcish of Krug's three daughters with an imposing build and
tremendous presence. Although she is an excellent warrior her
passion is for the religion of her grandmother Magga, and second to her, Chaal
is already the most powerful priestess of Magrish. Krug arranged for Chaal to
spend some of her upbringing as a guest of all the other Orc tribes and she therefore
has widespread support for her ultimate succession and understands inter-tribal
politics very well. She is less comfortable
with other races than her sisters, however, and it is partly for this reasons
that Krug sent her on a diplomatic mission to Carandor, accompanying Magga.
Magga went further and arranged for Chaal to find her own way home to the North.
Chaal, having initially been rejected by
Perkin Waldum
as a caravan guard was accepted when she rescued his party from ambush. She
accompanied Perkin and his guards on his journey to Ristenby and while waiting
for her grandmother to catch up with her in Starstone County took part
in the scouting of the Broch with her adventurer comrades. After rejoining Krug
and Magga in order to the ambush of the Goblin army threatening Sandkirk
she returned home to the
Northern Plains with them leaving the adventurers in the care of her little
sister,
Kaala.
