Raguso Sangari is the third son of a minor noble house in Brevoy but his mother's
favourite (probably because he is the only one of her offspring where her Aasimar bloodline ran true). Growing up strong, athletic and brave and with a desire to do good, with his mother's approval he joined the Order of the Watchers, a group of paladins with a mission to defend the world against demonic incursion. When still holding the lowly rank of Squire he is called to the Commander's office. Apparently his distant cousin Renaldo 'Wren' Sangari,
a talented bard, is mounting an expedition to the Stolen Lands 'with a group of
hand-picked seasoned warriors'. The expedition is backed by Lady Jamandi Aldori, a famed swordlord with political
connections. Wren feels his cousin would surely benefit from the experience of joining such an ilustrious crusade. The Commander, feeling the Squire is promising but perhaps a little naive, gives his permision and
Raguso sets out to meet his cousin at Lady Jamandi's manor.
The road to the manor is one of the safest in the kingdom so Raguso is somewhat surprised when four armed goblins
step out of the trees and demand he drops his weapon. A member of the Order would of course do no such thing and Raguso notes he has better armour and weaponry than the goblins. Nevertheless the conflict is going badly for
the paladin when a halfling, Mistletov, joins the fray and turns the tide.
It turns out that Mistletov too is answering Lady Jamandi's call for adventurers and, after stripping the goblins of their weapons and armour, the two companions continue down the road. At the next village they sell their loot and upgrade Mistletov's armour. Arriving at the manor house they meet with Wren and discover that Lady Jamandi has prepared a great feast for the throng of adventurers. Raguso discovers that sadly he is the only person currently committed to following Wren but by the end of the feast two more have signed up for the cause, Mistletov and a
foul-mouthed female ruffian called 'Sin'.
After the feast the adventurers are all escorted to their beds for the night. Wren and Raguso are rooming with
Sin, Mistletov, a sage called Raigen and a barbarian called Kenzin. Since other adventurers have reported trouble
on the road they agree that Kenzin will keep watch (since apparently he rests through a trance-like state where
his senses are still alert). In the middle of the night Kenzin wakes them all and tells them to put their armour on while he and Raigen investigate a cry in the night from elsewhere in the manor. Mistletov who slept in his armour listens at the door and warns of two or three beings approaching stealthily. The party ambush the cutthroats as
they enter the room and then stealthily make their way through the manor. Sadly many of the rooms now just contain bodies.
Sin, who is scouting, reports four more cutthroats in an indoor water garden. Raguso bravely offers himself as a target for their crossbows and the party rush in before they can reload with Sin just mysteriously appearing behind them. Raguso is healed of his wounds and the party make their way to the library where an ogre who has been blinded in combat is desperately trying to find his last remaining enemy. The party kill the ogre and the halfling bard
Linzi crawls out from behind a chair. The party are now five and next take on a giant in scullery. Luckily he has been wounded in combat and with Linzi's help they defeat him and release the three prisoners he has taken. They reach the Great Hall which is being held by Ivenzi, Lady Jamandi's lieutenant. She herself took some guards to
clear out the West Wing which is now on fire.
The party find Jaelinth a (possibly undead) elf being held by three cutthroats and rescue her. She is able to tell them that Lady Jamandi is making a stand in the dueling pit. They enter the room where Lady Jamandi is in combat
with two giants. Just then a tough-looking woman enters from another door, leading two more ruffians. Lady Jamandi yells 'I've got these two.
That's their leader. Take her out!'. After a tough fight the party do just that.
