In the mish-mash that is the popularly perceived history of Oerth the Ghinorean Succesor
States were the remnants of the
Empire of Kelnore that flourished for a few hundred years before fizzling out
Thanks to a tip-off from
Henna, however, we have been able to consult the ancient
records of
Damkina and once we got past the four different
calendar systems and the three different languages involved (and their archaic versions) we
have been able to draw some firm conclusions about that period of history. As always this
information is restricted as should not be discussed with the general public although we
shall of course share it with Henna is we see her again.
The dates we are confident(ish) are as follows
- -8567 BCCC The original village of Kelnore is founded (according to their
first calendar system)
- -8000 BCCC First Kelnorean colonies founded
- -7943 BCCC Temple of Athena built in Kelnore
- -7906 BCCC First settlement at Damkina
- -7441 BCCC- Empire of Kelnore officially founded marking the change from
colonies to provinces. Damkina becomes the administrative capital of the Northern or White
Province
- -3881 BCCC - Damkina follows the Ghinorean successor states in seceding from
the Empire
- -3721 BCCC - Fall of Kelnore
- 0 BCCC (4433 years ago) - Beginning of current calendar
The implication of these dates is that Damkina has been settled continuously for over
12,000 years although even the inhabitants who take pride in how ancient their city is don't
realise quite how long their history stretches into the past i.e. way past their official
Creation of Date (as in Creation of the Universe). The other successor states were all in the
south and seem to have started out as a unified kingdom. This seems to have quickly broken
into five seperate states and we have identified three of the ancient capitals as
corresponding to modern Lenap, Tlan and Chim. Sadly ancient Chim was a ruin at the beginning
of recorded history and each of the other two cities have been
ravaged since so it is unlikely any ancient records remain at these sites.
It would seem, however, that the southern states survived for several hundreds, indeed
thousands of years, longer than thought and some were still in existence after the fall of the
Dragon Empire. We will investigate their history if we have time (as you know its not why
we're here). I suggest in fact that we hire more sages from the City (I can give you
recommendations if you like) as these records represent a lifetime's work for a professional
