Klerkenwell is a dwarven outpost established a few hundred years ago by the Ironmasters of
Kolda. The Ironmasters need many rare and exotic components from
the jungle in forging their magic weapons and the area behind Klerkenwell was seen as
an ideal site for gathering them. Unlike their more insular brethren at Kolda the dwarves
here are much more welcoming of other races and there is a small but significant elf and
half-elf community living in Klerkenwell. The elves also have an interest in rare herbs
and spices and both communities freely pool their knowledge of plants and general jungle
lore. The dwarves are also willing to trade their surplus with passing ships.
Recently the Amiondel Elves have launched a series of assaults on the outpost but have
been beaten off each time. Not only are the dwarves more familiar with the local terrain
but the female clerics of the temple of Rosmerta have been effective in countering the
magic of the elves. It is clear to the dwarves that the renegade elves who are based in
Ludgates wish to dominate the region and they are seeking allies against the threat.
