Ferech Idu is a wealthy village situated on the western edge of the Patchwort Desert
and on the junction of trades routes heading north, east, south and west. It is populated
by many races with the two largest communities being human and dwarven which between them make
up about 60% of the population. Many of the inhabitants are merchants and craftsmen and many
own subsidary outlets in
Kod'l, a tributary village set over the mountain pass to the east.
In addition to travellers heading to the
Holy Cities Ferech Idu sells supplies to all manner of
adventurers and explorers heading out into the deep desert where lost cities and the remains
of previous civilisations are said to lie.
The town does not have a defence force but relies instead on mercenaries which are hired
as the need arises. The town council also have a reputation for playing off the local
barbarian desert dwellers against each other so that none ever become powerful enough to be
a major threat. The political astuteness of the council also has kept the
Viridians from
ever having a military presence here although it is common knowledge that a major Viridian
spymaster inhabits the town.
