The Crimson Citadel is the secret headquarters of the
Red Mantis most commonly believed to be in the mountainous south western corner of
Mediogalti Island. It is impossible to tell how much truth there is in the popular myths
surrounding the building but the description below is the most likely to be the one you will hear in
Ilizmagorti (by people of course who have never been there).
The lower levels, the Ruvari or 'Ruby Halls', are filled with deadly traps, venomous beasts and fiends. The mid-levels, the Sivlamlik or 'Honeyed Gardens', are filled with exotic food, narcotics and all the pleasures of the flesh. Access to them is granted to all the assassins who fulfil their missions. The topmost spires, the Odlalis or 'Lavish Heart' are the preserve of the
Red Mantis leadership, the Blood Mistress and the Vernai. Somewhere in the grounds lies the hidden Faynas (the Iron Heart) sanctum which only the Blood Mistress may access. It is said to contain the Sarsari Library, the greatest collection of known wisdom in the world.
