Chim

Chim is a small fishing and trading port (population 2,000) in the southern Wilderlands. Its population is 70% human 20% dwarven, 5% halfling with 5% being more exotic races. Its chief export is narcotics which are largely traded by the human population (although the trade is controlled is secret by the Yuan-ti). The tight dwarven community on the other hand will have nothing to do with this trade and instead deals strictly with other more useful products from the jungle of which the chief is rubber.

Few of the current population understand the rich history of the area which in the deeps of time was the centre of a lizardman empire of which few traces now remain. The lizardmen were overcome by yuan-ti snake-people whose capital was built where Chim now stands. The yuan-ti empire in its turn lasted thousands of years until the rise of the Empire of Kelnore. The Kelnoreans took exception to the yuan-ti practice of enslaving humans and even more to their genetic experiments. They invade the south and razed the yuan-ti capital to the ground before rebulding it as a new regional centre.

As part of the Empire of Kelnore Chim flourished as a trading city during the time of the Empire and indeed survived its fall becoming the capital of one of the Ghinorean Successor States. It was, however, the first of those states to fall: an over aggressive foreign policies led to an alliance which destroyed the city as a major power. The current small town is not built on the ruins of the ancient city but grew up beside them. The ruins themselves are consider dangerous and haunted by the townsfolk.
