This lively tavern has an intriguing recent history and is currently the most expensive
of Zothay's licensed inns. The rumour is that this used to be the headquarter's
of the old Thieves' Guild of Zothay but in a staggering piece of misjudgement they
were all wiped out in a single night of violence. According to some who witnessed it
the incident started with a quarrel between an adventurer and a thief over one of the serving
wenches. In no time at all other thieves leapt in to help their comrade but it would appear
that the adventurer also had many companions in the tavern. In a few short minutes
the entire upper echelons of the Thieves Guild were dead or dying and the relatively
unscathed adventurer and his friends beat a hasty retreat out of the city.
Within days the Three Plates was re-opened with a new proprietor Sanjis Tharsa,
once just a serving girl. The surviving staff (mainly women) were re-employed and it
has stayed a female-dominated establishment with even some of the bouncers being women.
The staff are hired for their looks and
skill as entertainers and most would appear to be available for more intimate needs.
It is a great place to play as a bard with an enthusiastic audience but Sanjis knows
this and charges an exorbitant 10gp a night if you want to perform. With the right
crowd in you can easily make twice that but on a bad day you're looking at a loss. Not
a place for a novice especially as you will have to compete with the in-house entertainment.
Many of the girls play a mean fiddle. Sanjis by the way has wormed her way up in Zothay
society and is rumoured to have important connections in the right places.
