This tavern is situated in the
Beggar's Quarter which for some is all
you need to know. The place is foul-smelling and dingy with a seedy atmosphere. You
are likely to be propositioned by women of ill-repute on the way in and pickpockets
abound both in the street outside and the public bar. Coarse and loud songs are welcome
but the coins (that will be thrown at you) will be mostly tin and copper. At least half
will be caught by others and not returned.
All manner of illegal business will be transacted around you as it is the one public
place in Zothay where the Thieves' Guild is more likely to be monitoring your conversation
than spies of the Tyrant or Governor. Ragnar, the proprietor, is a surly Tharbrian barbarian,
who only wades in with his club when the furniture has been damaged. He is not licensed to
offer rooms
although rumour has is that one might be available for the right price if you're desperate
enough. If by misfortune you are caught here after dark then that is desperate. The serving staff
appear to be relatives of those who tried to accost you as you approached the establishment
and are no more gracious.
