The Toasting Toad Guesthouse on the Street of Songs is owned by three halfling friends,
Nailfoot the Lame, Nobbin Frisk and Naffrin Bucko. The inn is popular with all races and
only about 20% of the customers tend to be halflings. Nobbin is the chef and has a reputation
for turning the most unlikely ingredients into edible and tasty snacks. Outsiders might be put
off by the menu containing Rat Head Soup and Slug Pasty but these dishes are popular with
discerning regulars. Nobbin is also something of an alchemist and herbalist and uses these
skills in his cooking. Naffrin is the barman and is such an excellent listener and provider
of good advice that he has the admiration of the local Mycretians.
The inn does not employ any bouncers and this is down to the reputation of the most famous
of the three friends, Nailfoot the Bard. It is not just that Nailfoot can use his bardic
skills to calm most situations. Nailfoot has many admirers in high places in the city
due to the fact that once a year he leads a group of bards, using his magic pipes, in ridding
the city of rats. A lot of influential people, some of them not very nice, would be upset
if anything happened to Nailfoot so most people tend to avoid crossing him. Nailfoot's magical
cleansing of the city also tends to charm a few children as well as the rats and although he
tends to bring them back (the children that is) most of the city understand he is making a
point.
