The Golden Sye in Sage Lane belongs to the leading herbalist in Viridistan (and hence the
known world), Fernlace. It is said that there is nothing that Fernlace cannot do with a plant
and even druids have been known to come into the city to consult him. His skill and fame
mean that he could be a very rich man but he lives simply and runs his shop with his
two apprentices. He tends to charge the poor far less than the rich (if anything) and
he makes a point of spending his profits on various good works.
He has of course long been suspected of sympathising with the Mycretians or even of being one but
such is his fame that Emperor would require conclusive proof before unleashing the Black
Adders on him. The Emperor is nothing if not pragmatic and appreciates that Fernlace's skill
contributes to the reputation of the City.
