The Tirthon hosts an open day for the local community

The Tirthon

The Tirthon was built seventy years ago to guard the trackway the then Warlord needed to allow his loggers to gather timber from the Dearthwood. The wood was needed to allow a great expansion of Quitak's navy but since that day the demand for timber has abated somewhat. Fifteen years ago a great uprising of the local Orcs of the Purple Claw saw The Tirthon and other military encapments in the Dearthwood beseiged and captured. The current Warlord reacted swiftly and many battles were fought under the trees with the Orcs before the Amazon Queen of the Orcs was killed in an encounter and all the Orcs withdrew to elect a new leader.

The Warlord, however, no longer considered the strategic significance of The Tirthon to be as high as his predecessors and he gave the command of the castle to one of his knights, Sir Gator, who had offended him. Sir Gator found it difficult to make the holding pay even though he used slaves to work the surrounding fields. Also the location was not popular with the mercenaries he needed to defend the castle with the result that the tower became undermanned. Last year The Tirthon was again taken by the Orcs and so far the Warlord has not found anyone brave or foolhardy enough to retake it. This is partly because the lone survivor of the attack told of winged demons helping the Orcs and a shadowy figure who observed the attack from the trees.
