Swain's Cairn is a small fishing village south of
Ossary. It is named after the cairn that sits atop the headland
next to the village and which is a famous landmark for seafarers travelling up the coast.
Swain was a legendary
Skandik raider living over eight hundred years ago.
Stories have him sailing east, looting Viridistan and even slaying the Green Emperor.
When Alkazed came to the throne of Ossary he had the leader of the village, Avarik, exiled
for backing one of his rivals. His clan have been dispossessed and the King sent one of his
supporters to rule the village. Unfortunately this man died soon aftwards when he was struck
by lightning while trying to despoil the cairn. The King now has had to send a second
man to act as village Overlord, Ablikar, who is unpopular for his cowardly and brutal ways.
