Shealoh

Shealoh is the nearest of the Holy Cities to the main pilgrim routes and guards the entrance to the caverns that is favoured by most civilised humanoids. It is also the largest of the 'cities' although even counting the pilgrims and other travellers in its inns it has barely the population of a small town. Before the Viridians arrived it was governed by dwarves who are the largest permanent community and comprise the majority of the workers in the nearby iron mines. Surprisingly the Viridians have allowed this arrangement to continue and most of the Viridian troops spend their time in the barracks, only infrequently patrolling the streets.

Unsurprisingly, however, given the volume of pilgrims passing through Shealoh the city is rife with Viridians spies and there are said to be at least three Viridian informers at all times in any Shealoh tavern or inn as well as many in other public places. The entrance to the cavern here is broad so that despite the crowds there is no crush to worry about as a pilgrim goes underground. Inside the caverns the passages quickly divide and it would be easy to get lost were in not for the many Mycretian guides on hand.

The market place does a thriving trade with pilgrims leaving the city who wish to buy a reminder of their visit and for some reason many have been convinced by dwarvish merchants that it is 'lucky' to buy an iron ingot.
