Recre is small but prosperous farming village on the road south from
Viridistan. Its history down the ages
consists of alternating periods of independence mixed with direct rule by the Green Emperors.
Its inhabitants have never been war-like or rebellious and its political situation has depended
on the whims of the Emperors. The current arrangement whereby the inhabitants have their
own elected mayor but Viridians patrol the surrounding countryside seems to suit both parties.
The Viridians have no interest in local politics and are only concerned with the safety
of an important source of grain for their city.
The farmers are well off by the standards of the Wilderlands but regularly complain that
it is the grain merchants in
Braddol who make all the money from their produce. Many of the
farmers also own businesses in the village and the main inn, the Four Shields, is owned by
the mayor and wealthiest farmer, Gamor. The inn is itself very profitable as there a constant
stream on travellers on the road through Recre including
Mycretians on pilgrimages to the
Holy Cities.
The population is 90% human with the remaining 10% mainly elf, gnome and halfling. The
human stock is about 80%
