The Temple of Harmakhis
in Quitak is the wealthiest and most important centre of his worship in the Wilderlands.
He is a chaotic evil god of death who traditionally
demands human sacrifice in his ceremonies and has a reputation for consorting with demons.
Many rumours say that human sacrifices are still made today in his temple and also that
demons appear to his worshippers during these ceremonies but little is known for certain
since his followers are sworn not to reveal any details of the rituals in the temple.
There is indeed some uncertainty about the identity of his followers since both
worshippers and priests wear masks during his services.
The temple is heavily guarded by nearly 200 priests who all wear identical robes. Although on
the surface this would seem to make the temple easy to infiltrate the rumour of the presence of
demons as well as profane divination magic discourage anyone from trying. Many of the nobles
and senators in the city are believed to worship at this temple and it is known to
actively recruit among the higher echelons of Quitak society.
