Quitak has a population estimated to be 80,000 of which
about 70% are human, 15% are dwarves, 5% elves and half-elves (mainly the latter), 5% halfling
with the remaining 5% mostly a mix of
gnomes, orcs and goblins. This may underestimate the goblin population as many live outside the
city walls in the so-called Goblin Reservation and no one is really interested in counting
them.
The human population is mainly of
Altanian or
Tharbrian descent but representatives of all
the human tribes of the Wilderlands can be found within the city.
Although all beings in theory have equal rights within the city there is a definite social
hierarchy
amongst the races which with human dominant, and then dwarves, elves, halflings and gnomes, orcs, and goblins at
the very bottom. In
practice wealth counts for rather more than race in terms of an individual's social standing.
