Quinden's Hedge is an ancient defence of the village said to pre-date the
Keep. Local lore has it that there were originally just two gaps
in the Hedge but since the Keep was built more have been made. According to legend
the hedge was enchanted to be fireproof and also to keep out evil creatures. Nobody knows
whether either of these enchantments still persist as the hedge is physically impenetrable and
it is a capital offence to try to set fire to it. Dead branches from the hedge burn just fine,
however. The hedge consists of a mixture of shrubs
including holly and hawthorn and has an average height of ten feet.
The villagers take great pride in their hedge and every few years a druid will be hired to
tend to it.
