Orichalians
When most people say the word 'Orichalian' these days they mean the settled people
of the southern
Pazidan Peninsula. While most of these people have some Orichalian blood, however, they rarely
exhibit any of
the physical features of pure-blooded Orchalians. True Orchalians were an ancient
dragon-blooded people who it is said had an ancient emnity with the First Men and the Great
Men in the deeps of time. Their skin is frequently scaly and some have a tinge that reflects
the colours of their chromatic dragon allies.
These humanoids became the Dragon-Lords of the legendary
Dragon Empire and although they were cruel and
evil
their achievements have never been surpassed and the arcane knowledge with which
they built their cities and machines of war has been lost.
It is said that when their last city fell the barbarian
Altanians hunted down and slew every last inhabitant.
It is true that on the Pazidan Peninsula there are no known communities of Orichalians
(the Altanians have long memories) but
many travellers will have met a Dragon-lord, particularly in large cities, and
they are believed to still have hidden
cities in the south. Whether these travelling Orichalians are representative of the people of their
cities is not known but they have a reputation for decadence and extreme
arrogance. In the north the only known communties of Orichalian stock are the
Moonraker Moor Folk and the Roglo River Folk, communities who are (relatively) more humble.
